Athens: New Renaissance Magazine

Editorial Production

Athens began as an initiative to celebrate grassroots artists. What began as a collective opportunity for young people to pursue their dreams, evolved into a publication for the underground to have deep conversations, plant seeds, and make their mark on the world. We worked with some of today’s most accomplished artists in popular culture.

The Objective.

Produce a print magazine that spotlights upcoming artists along their journey.

The Action.

Coyote Agency (FKA Athens) banded together young writers, photographers, and artists throughout the US to create various stories and editorials about topics that mattered the most to them.

The Outcome.

The Athens’ staff released 7 editions of their publication, and digitized them all. The magazine spotlighted some of today’s most influential artists before they hit their apex and worked with some of fashion’s more popular streetwear brands. Beyond hitting over 150K impressions in the peak of the digital age for millennials, the publication addressed hard hitting issues regarding sexuality, race, identity, Black culture, politics, drugs, and more.

The results

Started in 2011 by a college student.

7 editions, independently funded.
