And here we are. You’re ready to make your business official and a publicly recognizable entity. Let’s help get you set up. Registering your LLC or your S-corp (or C Corp, if you got it like that) is a huge deal and the paperwork can be daunting.
Here’s a few recommendations on how you can get started.
Register On Your Own
You’ll pay the registration fee with your local state goverment (it can be about $150)
Call the IRS for your EIN (it’s your business’ social security number) - it’s free
Open a business bank account - this should also be free, but some banks have their own requirements for how much you need to commit for a minimum balance
Purchase a domain (via Hover or GoDaddy) ($8-$23)
Register With Inc File
Inc File allows you to register any formation of business. The site sells packages to execute many of the initial projects needs in ensuring your business is set up. While the costs they sell in would traditionally be low cost or “free”, we’d look at their offering as a service fee for executing most of the work. Just be mindful if you ever want to transfer the email or domain outside of the package you purchased.
Sign Up With Legal Zoom
Legal Zoom has services similar to Inc File at a slightly lower cost. Some packages also offer legal support and guidance which Inc File does not.
